Steve Newsome has been teaching and demonstrating fly tying for over 15 years now - with demonstrations held all over Great Britain, Eire, Denmark and Holland.

His flies are in use in Canada, Sweden, Mauritius and even as far away as the Seychelles, as well as many salmon flies for Scotland and even Iceland.

He supplied the England Ladies team when they won the International in Wales this year (02) as well as a very creditable 8th in the European Open (Mens and Womens Teams) in Belgium last September.

His classes are friendly and open to everyone, just turn up for a warm welcome and expert tuition.

Red Lion, Brimington, Chesterfield
The class held at the Red Lion in Brimington, Chesterfield, has been running for 12 years and prior to that they were held at Clowne Tech. This class (with exception of bank holidays) meets every Monday throughout the year, 7pm-9pm, and the cost is only £2.50 per evening.

The Midland Hotel, Matlock Bath
Held on Thursdays, 7pm-9pm from September through to Easter, at the The Midland Hotel, in Matlock Bath, the cost being only £3.00 per evening with food laid on afterwards.

The format for the two classes are the same - anyone is welcome, male or female, ability is not an issue - if someone wants to tie a fly - Steve can teach them. The classes cover the whole spectrum of flies required e.g. Trout , Sea Trout, Salmon, Saltwater, Pike and even occasionally Chub and Carp .

Probably the most important thing is that these evenings are enjoyable for everyone concerned.
