Landed from the Notts area
October '06

CROMWELL LAKES near Newark, Notts first which is fishing its head
off at the moment, according to Gary the owner. Me old friend Colin
Hutchinson from Nottingham had three x 20s in a day session up to
26lb3oz on maize fished with the bag and pellet into dying weed beds.
At one point he had two on together and Gary had to come from the
house to help him!
Others catching include Darrius Henderson from Worsop with several
including a 36lb 8oz mirror caught on sweetcorn fished over sweetcorn
and carp pellets. One young angler had a cracking grassie of 20lb
8oz. Frank Knight had a couple in the net including a mid 20 caught
on dog biscuit. Shaun Wells had a couple of 20s over the weekend of
24lb 6oz and 26lb, both were mirrors caught on boilies.
Banking a few was Glen Shipstone from Nottingham including a mirror
of 25lb 12oz, 25lb common was banked by Kevin Yates from Barnsley.
His bait was boilie but that’s all he revealed!

Just down the road from Cromwell is LAKESIDE FISHERY of Ranskill,
Notts where the fishing has slowed down a bit! The carp lake catch
reports read like this: Robert Stephens from Barnsley had three x
20s including a cracker of a common weighing in at 25lb 11oz from
peg 3, caught on trigga boilies.
Mathew Jackson from Sheffield fished peg 1 and netted 4 carp up to
21lb, a mirror caught on sweetcorn. Martin Cockcane did well having
5 fish including a 22lb 3oz and 26lb 3oz mirrors from peg 5. Regular
John Thompson from Nottingham landed 6 carp including a fine common
of 24lb 10oz from peg 3.
The strip ponds have slowed down as well with Mathew Rose from Nottingham
having just 25 carp from peg 2 on chopped worm, his largest went 19lb
3oz. Stuart Collins from Nottingham also had a few up to 17lb 8oz
on caster and worm to the far margin.

KINGS MILL RESERVOIR is throwing a few out from the dam wall end,
as usual, but no bigger fish just lately.
BESTWOOD PONDS seems to have shut up shop with just a couple of doubles
from pond three.
STRELLY POND has slowed down but most are still catching. Especially
on bright baits!
The largest I've been told about from SOW BROOKE POND is an 18lb common
to a local angler.
